Lumber River Fall Canoeing

Hey friends, it may be cold December but we are still thinking about the fun we had this fall on the Lumber River! And come on, who can blame us? It's pretty hard to beat the beauty of golden sunshine, tea-colored water, sandy beaches and diverse forests of flaming red maples, solemn pines and mysterious cypress trees!

We found it took pretty decent sleuthing skills to uncover North Carolina's shuttle services for the Lumber, so we thought you might like to benefit from what we uncovered! Here's our list:

We used Mahanaim Adventures, and were very pleased with their services! Don Harty was prompt in responding to our inquiries, on time with the shuttle, and empowered our trip tremendously!

We also came across a great website for locating boating accesses, . Here are a few of our favorites along the most popular stretch of the Lumber River and Little Pee Dee.

River Accesses with trailer parking on Little Pee Dee (South Carolina)
-Galivants Ferry (135 US-510, Galivants Ferry, SC 29544. This address is actually for Sunoco Gas Station just after the boat launch when you are traveling south on 501. The landing does not have an address but it is located on the right when you are traveling south on 501, just BEFORE you cross the Little Pee Dee. 501 is a divided highway but if you miss turning off, just turn around at the Sunoco and travel north. Just after the bride there is a crossover that will take you straight across the southbound lane and into the lane for the access.) Paved, 30 parking spaces, no restrooms.
