Help, I've Never Camped Before!
Are you going camping in the wilderness for the first time? Expect a huge boost of self-confidence! You’ll amaze yourself at how creative you can be with only a few supplies. You will also make priceless memories and immerse yourself in landscapes that could never be reached through a vacation catalogue!
So, what can you expect on a guided camping trip?
YOU’LL GET LOTS OF EXERCISE.
Expect lots of physical activity. Paddling. Setting up tents. Hauling gear. Hiking. You will sleep well each night after the day’s activities, and will be amazed how much stronger you are when you return home. Tip: be sure to wear comfy, broken-in shoes that fit you well!
YOU’LL EAT FOOD COOKED OVER A FIRE OR CAMP STOVE
Just imagine all your meals having a slightly grilled flavor, then add a small potential for burned fingers. Food always tastes better in the wilderness!
YOU WILL RELIEVE THE CALL OF NATURE IN… NATURE.
There are no toilets along the trail, although some destinations do have port-o-potties at campsites (think: wooden box with a hole cut in the top.) Find information about how to ethically relieve yourself in the woods via this link:
YOU WILL SLEEP IN A TENT OR HAMMOCK.
No night-sounds CD will be needed this time--the night sounds are live! You’ll have a lightweight sleeping mat and a sleeping bag, and your pillow will be your stuff sack or an extra hoodie. Climate control equals the zipper on your tent’s ventilation windows. Tip: If you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.
YOU WILL BE WITH YOUR GROUP 24/7.
You will forge new friendships and possibly have some conflicts, too. But that’s what it’s all about! The friendships you make through shared challenges will last a lifetime.
Let’s get out there!
